Do
you remember whenever you first brought your computer home from the
store? I can remember it and I was thrilled with how fast it
responded to everything I told it to do. Although the
programs
that I installed on my computer opened and closed in a snap and the
startup process only took a few minutes that soon began to
change. Have you noticed that your computer has been slowing
down
recently? Not only that, you may have a lot of other problems
with your computer such as periodic error messages or perhaps even the
blue screen of death. Don't be too quick to think that a
virus is
at the root of the problem, it may be a difficulty with your Windows
registry.
The Windows Registry is a little understood part of a personal computer
that is responsible for almost every operation that takes
place.
As a matter of fact, any time you are surfing the Internet and
downloading files, opening and closing programs or installing something
on your computer, the Windows registry is being accessed.
Over
the course of time, small errors can creep into the Windows registry
and once they compile, they can add up to one huge headache.
The
most difficult part about it is that very few people are willing to go
in and clean the windows registry by hand.
If your Windows registry files have become corrupt, there are a few
things that you can do in order to correct the problem. One
thing
that you can do is to unplug your computer and take it into the store
in order to have them fix it for you. If this is the case,
plan
on them having your computer for a couple of weeks along with access to
any sensitive data that you may have on your computer. You
may
also be able to clean it by running a simple scanner program that you
download off of the Internet.
There are so many different problems that can happen to your Windows
registry that it would be difficult for you to identify where the
problem actually lies. A simple scan of your registry,
however,
will identify all of the problems that are occurring as a result of the
corrupted files. The scanner will then give you the option of
being able to clean your registry of these errors automatically or to
allow you control over which ones should be fixed. After the
corrupted registry files have been cleaned, your computer should be
running well again.
The only other thing that you should make sure that you do is to scan
your computer on a regular basis to make sure that no new errors creep
into the Windows registry. A good registry scanner and repair
program will run silently in the background and periodically check for
any of these errors. It is your best defense against ever
having
problems with your computer and corrupted registry files again.
