RegClean Registry Cleaner Review

Download and Scan for Microsoft Windows
You have to be careful as there used to be an official cleaner from Microsoft called RegClean. This isn’t it. It’s the same old trick. You download Regclean, it runs a scan that tells you that you have lots of problems and then asks for money to fix them.
A website called 2-viruses.com writes:
RegClean is a scam and should be treated as such: do NOT download or buy it and block regclean.com using your HOSTS file. Note, that rogue anti-spyware removal is typically a difficult task.
A quick scan on mywot and you get:
Rogue program that will show exaggerated results using ‘scare’ tactics in a bid to get users to purchase the program which will also lead to ID Theft and Fraud.
Avoid this website at all costs! RegClean is a rogue product which will exaggorrate reports when it scans your computer and asks you to pay to fix the problems. Bogus Website. Adaware even knows about this rogue product.
It also looks like RegClean doesn’t work well with Microsoft Office. Here’s a snippet from an article on Microsoft.com.
When you run the RegClean utility after you install one of the products listed in the “Applies to” section, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
- The RegClean utility finds errors in the System Registry, and you receive the option to Fix Errors in the RegClean utility.
- When you install a Microsoft Office program whose installation state is Installed on First Use and then double-click a document that is associated with that program, the Office program may not start. Instead, the Open With dialog box appears and the Office program is not listed.
In summary, another one that’s best avoided.
